Founding Artist, Judy Butler
Craft Waves Art School was started in 2015. I began studying art at an early age oil painting alongside my mother. While getting a degree in Psychology I studied drawing at UC Davis and Solano Community College. After graduation I have vigorously pursed self-study in acrylics, watercolor, oils and mixed media. I have been lucky enough to work with a few wonderful mentors and am grateful for the knowledge they have shared with me. My art interests are influenced by European travel, self study at the Smithsonian Museums in Washington D.C., and the natural landscape found in California. When not painting I am often visiting museums, spending my time camping on the coast and visiting the Napa Valley. I continue to paint daily. It is my pleasure to work students of all ages and spread the social, academic and therapeutic benefits of art.
At Craft Waves, you will be exposed to various techniques and materials to explore your talents. You will be guided through the process step by step, working from my original art or doing our own versions of one of the great masters. The sample paintings provide inspiration and serve as a launching points for creativity and learning. Come to relax, have fun, and enjoy what doing art has to offer for your well being. I frequently use templates so that students can spend their time with me on the "messy stuff" while they are here in the studio. Most works are posted on social media for fun and ease of sharing memories.
I look forward to creating beautiful art with you in one of my classes or events!
